This Acceptable Use Policy describes activities that are prohibited when accessing or using Covol. By using Covol, You agree not to use the Service in any way described below. We may modify this Policy at any time by posting a revised version on this page.

1. Who this policy applies to

All users of the Service, including high-school students, organisation administrators, platform administrators, and any visitor browsing public pages. Because the Service is designed for and used by minors, We enforce this Policy strictly. Conduct that would be lawful but harmful to minors is still prohibited.

2. General prohibited conduct

You may not use the Service to:

  • Engage in, promote, or facilitate illegal activity.
  • Defraud or mislead any person, including misrepresenting Your identity, age, school enrolment, or relationship to an organisation.
  • Harass, threaten, intimidate, stalk, bully, or impersonate any person.
  • Post defamatory, hateful, racially or ethnically offensive, or otherwise objectionable content.
  • Post or transmit sexually explicit material, content depicting graphic violence, or content that promotes self-harm.
  • Distribute malware, viruses, or any code intended to disrupt the Service.
  • Probe, scan, or test the Service’s security, except via an authorised disclosure submitted through our security page.

  • Scrape, crawl, or use automated tools to extract data from the Service except via documented APIs and within published rate limits.
  • Resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the Service or any data obtained from it.

3. Minor-safety rules

  • No off-platform contact attempts toward minors.Adults may not solicit a student’s personal phone number, personal email address, home address, social-media handles, or other off-platform contact information through the Service. All communication between an organisation administrator and a student must occur in the opportunity thread.
  • No requests for personal information from minors beyond what the Service requires for verified attendance.
  • No private off-platform meetings without parental knowledge. Volunteer activities must occur at the publicly-listed address and time only.
  • No impersonation of an organisation. Listing as a non-profit when not registered, or fabricating a community-service opportunity, is prohibited.
  • No fabrication of attendance records. Confirming attendance for a student who was not physically present at the published location during the published time window is a serious violation and may result in immediate organisation removal and possible referral to law enforcement.
  • No commercial recruiting. Organisations may not use the Service to identify minors for paid employment outside an official school program or for commercial sales activity.
  • No content that endangers minors. This includes content that grooms, exploits, or sexualises a minor.

4. Service-integrity rules

  • Do not create more than one student account or more than one organisation account except as expressly permitted.
  • Do not share Your account credentials.
  • Do not sign up for an opportunity You have no intent to attend or repeatedly cancel signups in a manner that prevents others from attending.
  • Do not manipulate the geofence check-in system, including spoofing GPS coordinates, using location-emulation tools, or arranging for another person to check in on Your behalf.
  • Do not reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Service.
  • Do not remove, alter, or obscure any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notice on the Service.

5. Reporting violations

If You become aware of a violation, report it to legal@communityboard.app, by using the in-app report button on a chat message, or by visiting our feedback page. Reports involving the safety of a minor, threats of violence, or sexual content are triaged with priority and may be referred to law enforcement.

6. Consequences

Violations may result in:

  • A warning to the offending account.
  • Removal of the offending content.
  • Temporary suspension of the offending account.
  • Permanent termination of the account, with notification to any associated school district or organisation where appropriate.
  • Removal of the entire organisation if the pattern is organisation-related.
  • Referral to law enforcement, child-welfare authorities, or other appropriate authorities.

We may take any of the above actions at Our sole discretion and without prior notice when the safety of a minor or the integrity of the Service is at risk.

7. Investigations

We may investigate suspected violations by reviewing message threads and signup history, inspecting attendance records, cooperating with law enforcement, and requesting additional information from the user under investigation. You agree to cooperate with any reasonable investigation.

8. Changes

We may update this Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above indicates the current version. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the changes.
